FEATHER EXPRESSIONS IS FIRST IN THE INDUSTRY TO PRODUCE AN ACID FREE FEATHER

Feather Expressions is the natural offspring of Gateway Feathers which was established in Wisconsin in 1954 to manufacture archery feathers. Gateway Feathers is already engaged in the cleaning and processing of feathers so it is a natural transition to process feathers for distribution to the growing craft industry. We know feathers. We know how to wash them, dye them, dry them, sort them and hand select only the finest quality feathers. We love feathers and we love using them in our craft projects.

My husband, Doug, and I decided to form Feather Expressions so we could share our beautiful feathers with you. When I am not busy with Feather Expressions I am volunteering my time and expertise as a veterinarian in Tucson. On a typical day you’ll find me treating a great horned owl which flew head long into a plate glass window, bottle feeding an orphaned bob kitten, or repairing a fractured wing on a red-tailed hawk. In addition to loving feathers and crafting, I love animals. You can be absolutely certain that no animal was harmed for the purpose of collecting feathers. All of our feathers have been discarded by the food industry – we buy them by the pound. Guess how may turkey flats we expect in a one pound package – 6,000+! We then process them using environmentally safe techniques to create the extraordinary feathers we offer to you.
